Arrggghhhh!!!

I just got 2 ex batts today and they were free ranging with my other chickens. All was fine, the old hens were completely ignoring the new ones. Then squishy, a black brahma starting making more noise than i have ever heard her make. Probably because her position as the big cheese was being threatened by the two older girls. Then she made a loud noise that sounded just like a cock-a-doodle-doo!!! Im hoping im imagining things, but heres a picture of my brahma, does she look like a cockerel? Im quite new to the whole chicken thing so i cant tell.

Defiantly a girl but she is asserting her dominance and sometimes they try to replace the cockerel!

She looks rather cross about it. Hope she didn't crow though.

They are just asserting themselves to sort out the order. Mine are really noisy for about a week every time i get any new girls

You know - my Bob does the cluck, cluck type noise every so often. She stands very tall and just keeps going. She can be quite loud but it is seldom that she does this.

 

Her and Berny I'm sure are always arguing about who is the top chick lol.

I got the shock of my life when 2 of my girls start laying and made the most incredible noise. I now have 4 that let out the most almighty crowing at times when they have layed an egg - except for Clover my White Leghorn who still gets it the wrong way round - she crows for 15 mins then goes and lays me a beautiful white egg.
