chickencam
My OH made some yesterday. He loves Skippy peanut butter but it can be hard to get hold of, out local Waitrose sold it then stopped then started again and have stopped again He decided to have a go at making his own. 1.5 cups of unsalted roasted peanuts and a tablespoon of peanut oil. The recipe tells you to blend until smooth, we used our Braun stick blender and it's little processor bowl. At first it looks like ground peanuts and it was only that I remembered that if you over grind almonds they turn into a paste that made him continue blending and eventually like magic it turns into peanut butter Shame I can't stand the stuff, it is one of the few foods that I just can't eat, I tried this in the hope that it would be better, but no still felty in texture and tastes vile , he loves it so does ED, they say it is best ever. bluekarin
mmm that sounds nice and no palm oil! I love peanut butter. Smooth, on toast with a bit of jam on top. Next time I'm out shopping I shall get some monkey nuts and peanut oil and make some.
chickencam
The nuts need to be roasted to work best i think but not salted, we got ours from waitrose.

Lesley
Sounds a good one to try! I love it (with a thin smear of chocolate spread as well ) - what's wrong with a spoon in each jar???
chickencam
The recipe says that it will store for 2 weeks in the fridge but it doesn't make that much probably the equvilent of half a jar. Half of ours has been used already.
Christian
I'm with Lesley on this one. A teaspoon in a jar and enjoy.
Lesley
I'm with Lesley on this one. A teaspoon in a jar and enjoy. In each jar Christian - simultaneously ........ and it's the same for Lemon Curd........it's wasted on bread......only a spoon will do

Old Speckled Hen
I hate the way it dries your mouth I keep a jar to mix with rat poison which I put in a bowl inside the compost heap. They die for it
