Rorrry
Hi all We have received our new Eglu Cube just over a week ago, moved our girls in and thought all was well and settled... How wrong you can be. One of our girls (wellsummer) has started plucking feathers from the rest of our hens and eating them, she is mainly going for the fluffy feathers around the vents but we also have a young buff orpington (about 9 months) who is quite fluffy all over and seems to be bearing the brunt of the plucking as she is the easiest to catch up with due to her being rather large and lumber-some (and not to bright), that said though she will have a go at all the hens when she can. We have never had this problem before and we're at a complete loss as to what to do with her, is this just a faze, is it curable, will she stop without intervention or is she destined for the roasting pot??? Any help you could give us would be much appreciated as before all this she was a lovely hen, a supper layer and very friendly. Plus she is one of the first hens we have had from a chick. Thanks in advance Angela and Ryan
Ain't Nobody Here
You could try a bumper bit or some anti-peck spray ?
Groovychook
I would try a bumpa bit too... Worked like magic on my naughty girl & by the time it had worn off, she'd learnt some better manners!
