thebdj
Yo. Just to make a point of one of the wealth of things I have learned from this forum; Chick Bedding. I had a fine straw and woodshaving down for my chicks and thought it was ok for them but did otice they kept pecking at it a lot and on a couple of occasions had to pull some straw out of their mouths that was quite lodged down their little throats. Noticed someone talking about Aubiose and decided to give it a go. The cheapest I could find it was online, but I won't say where unless I break some sort of forum guideline. Big old 20kg bale which should keep me in aubiose for a decade Anyway, the chicks love it and they are much more comfortable on it. It absorbs unbelievably well and allows you to see just how much wee and poo they are doing. You can keep top-littering or deep-littering or it is also easy to remove and start again. Anyway thought I'd tell you how good it is! Will no doubt bore you with other things I have learned from here too Justin

thebdj
You wouldn't think Norfolk is so difficult a place to find all things agricultural would you! But I don't know where I can get it from. I had to pay considerably more than £7.50 for my bale! Will keep my eyes open or appreciate anyone else from the same farming county to point me in the right direction!
Redwing
I like it too, its about £9 a bale round here

There is a little feed place in Oulton Broad, Suffolk (so Great Yarmouth) that sells it. I haven`t purchased from there for a while but recall it was very reasonably priced I will dig out their address and tel no....or if Janty comes along she will know
thebdj
That would be perfect! As it happens I live just off of the Lowestoft Road in a small village called Chedgrave. The guy who sits next to me at work is from ... Oulton Broad! Fantastic! If you could dig those contact details out, that would be great! Small world! Falkor
SPINNEY FARM, Park Hill, Oulton, Nr Lowestoft, Suffolk. NR32 5DG Tel. 01502 564399 Best call them as I think they only open Friday and Sat but I may be wrong. They sell poultry feed, horsey stuff and cat and dog etc I think the road is the B1375 which I take from the A12. I know Chedgrave so you are a bit of a drive but not too far from Spinney Farm Depending on how you use it (ie. just in the house of in the run too) Aubiose will last well and is very cost effective. I have tried other cheaper beddings and have gone back to Aubiose
