3 softies in 1 day!

Recommended Posts

If in doubt worm your girls and add lifeguard to the water.

Because limestone flour is so powdery, I think my girls pick the pellets out of the powder and leave it behind sometimes, so I always make pellet porridge when I need to add limestone flour to the feed, then I know the crafty little madams actually eat it :lol: .

You can use Zolcal D as well immediately, until the limestone flour takes effect. Zolcal D has calcium and Vitamin D3 in as well, the hens body needs vit D3 to use the calcium so it's important to have that as well.

I've got mine before from here.

Hope your girlies get better soon, I know laying softies makes mine feel pretty miserable.

Thanks Mostin,

I,ve just put some COL and limestone flour in their feed, hopefully that should help them until the lifeguard gets here. Should I only give them the feed with the limestone flour and clo for just a day or two or can they have it until the lifeguard gets here? Ohhh confused :anxious:

Im going away on friday too so dont want to worm them until after then and am i ok to worm them when they are having everything else aswell? ( although I dont think they do have worms ) :wall: arghhhhh I hate not knowing what to do!

I would carry on with the cod liver oil, limestone flour and the limestone flour as the Lifeguard has a slightly different mix of vitamins in it, mainly A, E and the B Vits.

All 3 together should bring your girls into peak form :D ,

Don't worry, your doing fine, our girls just always know when we are planning to leave them for a few days :lol: .

I dont know if you have tried these, but my friend was talking about feeding his crshed oyster shells...hes never had a softie...sounds a good idea. u can find them in some shops but i'd say get them on the internet. hope they aint got worms though :S not the best of things.

gd luk :D

Good point, check the grit they have access to. Proper poultry grit is a mix of insoluble grit, which they use to help grind up their food, and soluble grit, which is a source of calcium.

The soluble grit is usually crushed oyster shell, check you have some in the mix. If not, my farm shop sells it in big bags, or you can get it off ebay.
