More ebay help please

Recommended Posts

Remember our awful experience selling the car on ebay?

Well, the buyer has just sent negative feedback to me. My feedback has always been 100 percent and now it's 97.

:(

I have replied saying that he was offered a full refund and that I had to report him to the police but is there anything else I can do? I feel really annoyed that this man can do this when he was trying it on.

There is not much you can do (since sellers cant leave negative feedback  ) but you can either, contact eBay, explain what happened and see if they will remove it (they most likely won't) or, request a mutual feedback withdrawal, where the buyer and seller remove their feedback. Personally, I wouldn't worry about losing your 100%, Just leave a comment and carry on.

There is nothing you can do unless..................

He has lied about you in some way which is defamatory - ie, saying that he has reported you to the Police for theft or something.

Or unless you opened a dispute, & he did not respond to the dispute in any way. In that case he is not allowed to neg you.

You have done the best thing by stating in a clear & consise way what actually happened, but be aware that he can now leave a follow-up comment in response to your response (sorry if that doesn't make sence!)

Best not to leave him anything at all, so it doesn't rile him into responding again.

You could try contacting eBay & explaining why the neg should be removed, but I don't think that they generally remove them (although they did for me once - so good luck!)

A friend had similar experience and ultimately has been put off selling at all. I felt bad enough when I got a neutral, but accompanied by completely unfounded comments and no attempt by buyer to contact me to resolve beforehand - and all for an anorak that she had bagged for 99p (when I checked her own ratings I discovered she had loads of comments about her selling dirty clothing items, but buyers had been too kind as to be negative). I think some folk just like to make other folk miserable and sadly ebay's decision to prevent negative feedback to buyers has given them a free reign. You have my deepest sympathies.
