franklyrabbit
Hi Everyone Before sending this out as a new topic, I have made a 'foxes' search on the forums and notice that human male pee squirted from a washing up liquid bottle can be used as a deterrent to foxes. Does anyone have any other ideas? The reason for asking is that for the last two nights a fox has been climbing our fence and last night began to dig at the base of the eglu. How quickly can a fox dig itself into the run? I know that the eglu and run are fox proof but I don't like the thought of Bonnie & Bandit being alarmed by the visits. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to put them off - it that's possible? We are considering moving them closer to the house on to cobbled floor instead of lawn??? Thanks. Ziggy
Hi there, 'Foxwatch' has had mixed reviews, but I found it works after a while (problem is having to keep replacing the batteries). As you said, male pee is supposed to help (but apparently it has to come from a carnivorous human specimen - our household are all vegetarian, so my husband was spared the task... and I never plucked up the cheek to ask the postman!!). Human hair is supposed to also deter foxes. I've never heard of a fox managing to dig into an eglu run, but the cobbled stones would definitely bring you some peace of mind! franklyrabbit
Thank you for your advice on Foxwatch. I am favouring this. Incidentally, now that the rabbits are up on the cobbles (at least for the winter period), we did not have any trouble last night. Rabbits are eating again and seem generally chilled!
