Chicken Shirl

Tenerife chick...**Sad update

Recommended Posts

I have not seen it yet but Prinsessa is making all the right noises. All the hens have been to look at her and my cockerel is standing guard.:lol: It is so funny to see the hens trooping up and Sir Minky guiding them out of the way when he thinks then have been there long enough.:lol::lol::lol: Will report later if she makes an appearance :D

David arrives in about half an hour from now. Better get my skates on down to the air port.

He will take photo's over the weekend. :D:D You all have a good one. :D:D:D

Good luck with all the ex batts today.:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Wow, look forward to seeing them. What a treat to see your cockeral guarding them, I think we need a video. :D

Not a lot to report. She is preening herself a bit and eating and making those delicious little clicking noises. We can hear the chick but (he she it).... it's a she  has not shown herself today. So maybe tomorrow. :D:D:D

Sorry you have not got good weather. We have some heavy cloud about this everning so OH is getting a cover ready to protect mother and babe tonight just in case of heavy rain.

Will do our best to get piccies. :D:D:D Just can't stop smiling. :D:D:D:D

Come on Shirl, where's the piccys? Getting my 4 ex bats this afternoon, will try and get some pics tomorrow as it will be too dark by the time we get home.x

Oh! Dippy Bird! how lovely :!: We are struggling to see our new baby, as Princessa is keeping it well hidden at the moment. As soon as we can we will post piccies. Do hope all goes to plan with your ex batts. lolxx We are thinking of you all here in Tenerife.

Took some lovely shots of our young hens in the trees this morning. Will post them when the baby appears. :D:D:D:D:D

It's not such good news from Tenerife I'm afraid. We couldn't hear the chick this morning and after about half an hour we decided to take a look, as up until then we still hadn't seen it. We found it a little way from the hen and the nest. It was very cold so we brought it inside and put the heat lamp on it. It's coming round slowly. That was about at about 11am. My fear is that Princessa has put it out of the nest to die because it has some defect or other. It is not at all sure on it's feet and it's head is wobbling around all over the place. In my experience they are running all over the place at this stage.

What do you all think. :(:(

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts . You are just lovely people all of you. Princessa is a bit better this evening and has eaten something and had a drink. Gone back to her nest though. We have cut away most of the foliage to encourage her off the nest, but I think it will take a couple of days. :) We will get some piccies of our hens roosting tonight I hope. lol to you all. Shirley and David. :)
