jlo
...I have received an email telling me that there is a package for me registered with Fed Ex with a banker's draft worth $970,000 in it. All I have to do is send £350 and it is mine!!!! Do people really fall for these things??? The low life sending them are beyond despicable! Chickvic
Wow! I hope you sent the money asap! I never have a rich African offering to put money in my account I agree with you - it's absolutely outrageous and unfortunately some people do fall for the scams. majorbloodnock
Pah. Money's only for buying stuff, and looking at the emails doing the rounds, I've got so many nubile young Russian girls throwing themselves at my feet, and more than enough viagra available to keep up with those offers, that I can hardly think what else I'd have to spend the money on. Space Chick
Oh Major how exciting for you OH had an interesting one a few weeks ago from a woman reporting to have had a great time with him the night before and saying how much she'd love to see him again. Now I know my hubby is clever, but I don't thinking cloning himself if one of his talents, as he was with me the whole night before. Can you imagine though if I didn't know about these "pretty lady" scams and he hadn't been home, there might have been some serious explaining to do

Lesley
Oooh! a big Omlet party coming up then!! I've had two emails over the last couple of days purporting to be from BT - looking very genuine - telling me my account is limited and I need to contact them.............sent to "Dear value customer" BT have had lots of reports on this and at least one person has clicked on the link and lost lots of files. Surely these people could find something useful to do with their undoubted talents

jimnpaula
The 'African' ones are known as 419s (I don't know why) and there are several websites with people scambaiting (eg: www.419eater.com, www.scambuster419.co.uk, www.419scam.org) I love some of the tasks the baiters ask the scammers to do to "prove their identity" P

"Nigerian Advance Fee Fraud Overview The perpetrators of Advance Fee Fraud (AFF), known internationally as "4-1-9" fraud after the section of the Nigerian penal code which addresses fraud schemes, are often very creative and innovative"
Lavenders_Blue
Paula, thanks for posting those websites. Reading what some of the 'baiters' do to the scammers has left me with tears rolling down my face, especially the photos!
