kitchens
Only another 2 hours and 50 minutes to go and i'll know whether or not i'm any good. Last year's was a success but I always get nervous because it's not something I do on a regular basis
ubereglu
Well Done! We still have to make the Christmas puddings and cake, but probably won't get around to doing it until Mid November!

kitchens
Definitely cheaper to buy but do like making it. It's made the house smell nice
Happy chickens!
I have lovely memories as a child of everyone stirring the cake and having a wish. Never really liked the cake though and neither to rest of my family, so that is one tradition I haven't carried on. I can almost smell it now.... Rhapsody
Anyone got a recipe for a Xmas Cake novice? I want to use up the cranberries I've strained out of my vodka..
Christian
If you have/can get hold of, Nigella's Feast book, the easy action christmas cake is lovely! You need dried fruit, but I have used boozy fruit before. Vodka soaked cranberries would be lovely.
Chucky Mama
Must crack on and do mine. I make one for MIL and Great MIL for Christmas too. I make them early and then inject them with Brandy every week or so. Yum!
Saronne
My neighbour bought some eggs from me two weeks ago to make her Christmas cake. She is much more organised than I am. Mine doesn't get made until two weeks before Christmas! Saronne x
..lay a little egg for me
You lot have inspired me to put my dried fruit to soak in brandy so I should be making the cake in about 3 days.
