How do you get in to the cube run to clean etc?

Recommended Posts

I think the (cube green) cube is great, but... I am not sure how practical the 3m run is. My 8yr old can get in, I can't not without getting filthy and muttering the odd rude word! So how would I get to a sick hen GNR if I needed to or just clean out the wood chips? My cube is in it permanent place and I can't move it about. Help please.

I think I'm going to do a 'chattychicken' fix! I've order an additional frame and have lots of extra clips as I used cable ties on the run rather than the clips. Any (cheap) tips for fastening the top half? My hubby thinks I'm mad with all the cash I've splashed on the chooks, especially as they haven't laid an egg yet - the pressure is on! They are pol (ranging from 18wks to 28wks) now, so I really hope they squeeze one out in the next few weeks! !eggcream!!eggblue!!eggwhite!!egggreen!!eggbrown!!eggbrown!

Just do the drop down conversion it is so easy. It's the first thread Em put on.

Lots of clips along the middle to make a hinge then I used about 6 around the top half. They are easy to undo with something to lever them open. I have got in and out of mine every day since I got the cube. It gives you elbow space for raking the run and going in to do food water and cuddle chooks. :D

Just get yourself an arch support to stop it all collapsing about £29 I think from Omlet :D

Yes, I'd wondered about the shade bunges as I have about 5 spare as I'm using cable ties on the clear tarpaulin I bought - so I'll give it a go when the run arch comes on Thursday.

Why didn't Omlet see this design fault :shameonu: they have done everything else so well!

You can buy a new end panel with the big door for about £45...would this be a better option?

My extra arch arrived today and is now doing a great job of supporting my newly hinged access door - the Egg Lou method. :D I have used my some of spare bungee to close it. It works a treat, I've been in messing around in the run this morning much to the disgust of my girls!

I bought a clear tarpaulin to completely cover the run and have graveled around the run as it is in a permanent place, they rampage around the garden for three days a week! The girls are now in tip top accommodation - I am just waiting (still) for an egg as a reward for all my hard work! (cube green)!egggreen!!eggblue!
