feemcg
Just got in from a late shift (stayed an extra couple of hours till the little darlings were settled!)and 2 boxes lying in the hall - one containing a Brinsea Octagon 20 DX and one with a chick feeder, drinker, brooder lamp, egg candler etc. How exciting - but can't open it as I'd probably be too noisy and wake everyone up, and I'm back up in a few hours for an early shift! So will have to be patient and open it tomorrow afternoon.....and then be very patient and resist the temptation to pop a few eggs in! - I promised myself I wouldn't until it was a bit warmer. Still got a lot of reading up to do anyway!
AnnieP
Oh how exciting! I would love to do this! Will have to be a surrogate experience for the time being, through you! DO keep us informed!

feemcg
Just got in and opened it - looks a bit complicated but I've read a load of incubator reviews and this one comes tops in the idiot-proof category so should suit me! Wee Anna said "Oh mummy, you've bought a chick maker". Will certainly keep you all posted when I take the plunge but I think I'll be asking the experts on here loads of questions first! Popcorn
Well, you learn something new everyday. I had no idea what one of those Brinsea thingys was. Good luck with it. Hope the instructions are better than the flat pack type! Love to see some piccies.
Lesley
Exciting stuff fee - I'm surprised you could wait to open it. We used the Octagon 10, if that's any help to you?
Cate in NZ
How exciting. Good luck with incubating. I'd love to see pics of the results
Mrs Frugal
Oh yes please! That's something I'd love to do too but I don't think LSH will let me !
feemcg
Yes, I'm looking forward to it - will try and wait till March. We (me, OH and wee Anna) had a lot of discussion before I ordered it as I'm so impulsive and really want to hatch but everyone had to be clear about the implications for the boys. If it was going to upset anyone too much, I wouldn't do it. Obviously there are 3 options - cull early, keep till they're too noisy then eat or find someone who wants a cockerel for breeding (all options dependant on which breed they are!) so I need to research this a bit more. Snowy
Sounds exciting Fee! Will need plenty of pics of your progress!
Linda
Good for you Fee! What a wonderful thing to do. I would love to hatch some chicks. My family hatched a few batches when I was a child. It was my job to turn the eggs twice a day! So exciting when they hatch. The children will love it!
