We're replacing the wood chips with the girls' Xmas pressie... Aubiose!!!!:dance:

So I want to give the WIR a deep clean but I'm so confused by the choice!!! I've seen the list above but they all seem to have different uses - worming, disinfecting, drying out wet bedding, removing smells, some used as a powder/others diluted in water...

Can anyone tell me what they use please? I've read that DE can be added to dustbaths (so the girls treat themselves to kill red mite! Yay!) and also added to feed as a wormer and to help sort out runny poos but does it disinfect as well?

Have I missed anything off the list???

Thanks :)

Can't really answer the poll

I use stalosan F powder on the floor of the run. Just chuck a handful here and there and brush it all over.

For the house I use poultry shield 1:20 to wash the house down or if I wash down the house with detergent I spray it with poultry shield 1:10 when dry.

DE get peppered in the nest box and added to dustbath. :D

I think you will probably get lots of different answers to this question

To clean, I use warm, soapy water and a sponge or scourer. To disinfect after cleaning, I use Virkon if I'm using it wet or Stalosan if dry. I used to use Diatom for red mite control but now I rely on Barrier red mite powder. Diatom is marketed as a wormer but I find liquid Verm-x more than up to the job. :)
