At long last

Everything comes to he who waits............well Ive been waiting 2 years now and Ive finally been offered my first half allotment plot. I know where it is and who has the other half and Ive got a fair idea the condition its in so I accepted.........Of course.:dance::dance:

I am hoping I can go along tomorrow and take some pictures and measurements. I know I have got to have a rabbit proof gate put up and I want to build raised beds but Ive only got 3 weeks of hubby being at home to get any building work done until he's away for 6 weeks.

My head is buzzing with plans but it is soooo wet down here I can't see me getting anything constructive done for some time, have to make do with reading and re-reading the seed packets.

Just spent my third afternoon at the allotment, there is loads of clearing to do but Im taking my time. I've dug over and weeded a 4" square patch today, will go back tomorrow and re dig it then plant the shallots around it so that I can plant carrots in the middle later on.

I've had a good soak in the bath and ready to do battle again in the morning.

Ok yes my mistake 4 foot square.

Couldn't go back today raining too much but I have got the panes of glass cut for the greenhouse so that's one job done, just got to fit them. As I had to travel to Redruth for the glass I just had to go to Wilkinsons it would have been rude not to and bought myself a stainless steel and ash fork and some shelves for in the greenhouse so a good shopping spree.

Hours notched up this week is about 6 hours and that includes it raining the first half of the week. Ive eventually got my shallots in today with the help of the girls, they spent 2 and a half hours there today and didn't complain once.

One of the other plot holders spoke to me today very briefly and all he said was "if you don't get some really strong rabbit fencing up you might as well forget it"

He could see that I have got weeks and months of clearing and digging to do before anything can really go in so I had better strengthen my defences before I get another ear bashing.
