Help, need a part for my boys wardrobe

Recommended Posts

My darling son has just heaved a tshirt + hanger off the rail in his wardrobe and the whole rail has come down snapping the cup that the rail sits in. Any idea wher I can get one cup thing from? If I can't find one his room will become one mass off hurled clothes!

There is always Wickes as well.

I love Wickes... Should of been a shareholder with the amount spent in there doing the current house up! But they do sell EVERYTHING and the staff are friendly, helpful, know what they are talking about, and not condescending just cos I'm female.

Amazing!

If you find you can't locate the part you wanted, there's a simple alternative, so long as you don't mind a quick bit of woodwork and have (or can borrow) the ability to bore a reasonably big hole (probably about an inch or so wide).

  1. Find a piece of wood that's somewhere around an inch thick, although exact thickness isn't important.
  2. Measure the thickness of the rail, then cut a square(ish) piece from your wood that's about three times the width of the rail.
  3. Drill a hole that's the same width as the rail. Make it a loose fit.
  4. Drill a pilot hole for a screw at each corner of the block.
  5. Put the block onto the rail, position the rail where it needs to be, slide the block back to the end and screw in position.

What you'll end up with will be far stronger than the original cup, especially if you decide to do both ends at the same time. With the right tools, it's the work of about 10 minutes, so isn't a great deal of effort.
