Lesley
Can we come and watch, Sheila?
SarahJo
When one child is sick, then the OH ... then yourself .... DO NOT place both buckets next to the remaining non-sick member of the households bed . Typically .. they will then come into your room in the middle of the night, say "I'm going to be sick" .. and before you've even sat up ... proceed to cover your bed with carrots and peas . Best , keep that bucket in your room, next to your pillow next time.

Maybe we had better call off tomorrows meeting until we all feel better.....................The Diatom can wait...
Lesley
Perhaps you should all be taking Diatom?
Guest
It must be sweeping the country then - a 4th person in our house went down with the sickness last night - well 3am to be precise! Now there's only the younger two left (aged 10 and 7) so not looking forward to that as they're less able to look after themselves They'd better not ruin my bed in the middle of the night though Meanwhile I'm still suffering with what I assume must be a mildish flu. I've been ill for 11 days now (with the sickness in the middle as well!). Can't imagine being better any more Has anyone else had this? I'm the only person I know of. Others seem to have had it for 24 hours only.
SarahJo
No Ginette ... Oh was 24hrs 'ish, you know what men are like. Ben and Joe literally .. sick then want something to eat . Me .. had sore throat, aches and pains for about a week, and now the sickness, so its obviously the main "Nurse" who gets it the worse. . Better keep a bucket handy for the younger 2 just incase. . Guest
Glad I'm not on my own then Sarah Jo Though I'm sorry to hear you're suffering too It's been a quiet morning but I'm really pleased that I have spent the morning washing and drying up (would you believe the dishwasher broke down last night? ) and still felt up to cooking some lunch for those who might want to eat it! I don't seem to have been able to eat much for so long that I don't even think about it any more! I feel tired now but really pleased that I've managed so much How sad is that!! Sheilaz
Can we come and watch, Sheila? Come & join in! (the walking on custard) Ah, but I really could try this, Rachel. Pondman is just constructing our new (& final ) pond, so I could have a go before the water goes in. Oh no, I missed reading a page...sorry to hear about the illness SarahJo, Nicola (are you two planning to meet, how exciting?!) and Ginette. Guess I shouldn't have mentioned custard. Hope you,and families, all feel better soon. Ginette, please take care to go & lie down when you can, & go to bed early, until you are fully better. I know what you mean about small chores feeling like major achievements. But its tempting to do too much too soon, but its not wimpish to rest (when you can!), it'll let your body heal quicker & therefore pay off in the long run. Hope you're all running around like chooks again soon, love xx
Lesley
Oh No! - I've had a sore throat for a week now - better get the bucket ready
Guest
Thank you Sheila for your sound advice. You're absolutely right but do you think any of us mothers are able to do that?? We're a terrible breed! I'll do my best! I really think I'm recovering this time though. Still feeling fine and I've done a lot of planning which I need to get done for Wednesday. That's a great relief. The sad thing is DH is between jobs - honestly! - and planned 10 days off to spend together getting jobs done, having lunch out etc. I've been ill for the WHOLE of those 10 days and he starts his new job tomorrow. Can't believe it It wasn't just a sore throat Lesley - runny nose too and feeling terribly tired (much more than usual ) Wise to be ready with a bucket though. We have all found it takes 2 hours from first thinking you feel a bit sick to actually being so

Hellcat
I have learned that the household printer is NOT designed to print hundreds of sheets of labels for the guy i do casual typing for. Now its broken! I have learned not to offer to have your friends kids for them when you have work to do, as the girls are now driving me crazy with requests like 'can we plant some flowers? when are we going to take the dogs out? when can we have some crisps? Can we make cakes?' arghh!

Lesley
This topic was one of my PM's to Kate in the early days of the forum along the lines of "I've got another idea for a topic when it all goes quiet again" Those were the days when we had to work at keeping things going
