Space Chick
My favourite ( don't tell the others) is my Cream Legbar. She is very affectionate, has a really sweet personality and she lays blue eggs Good luck in your decision

tom123
Got to be Wyandotte bantams. They come in so many different colours, lay reasonably well, good broodies, become tame and so pretty! I have 18 all together, boys and girls and they are all so different and all have a personality and are so funny to watch Edited January 24, 2010 by Guest
Redwing
I'm a Wyandotte fan too, especially the bantam ones They are just such good looking birds, a proper chicken shape and their faces are so lovely. They are easy to keep and there is surprisingly little agro with introductions even without a cockerel
sparkysmum
ex batts always get my vote So full of character, such feisty, independent ladies. Just got to love them
dippy bird
without a doubt, ex bats! They are amazing! Tough little cookies, and with a little bit of TLC they find their own persosnalities. My vote is ex bats all the way! x
sjp
another vote for the Cream Legbar for the same reason as Space Chick mine the smallest of the bunch but she's deffenatly got the biggest personality even if she's a brat at times

Redwing
I havent got one but i do fancy a Vorwerk. Anyone know anything about them? ClaireG has two, they have been hard work to tame but she is getting there now, a little flighty and very iindependent (the birds not ClaireG )
Janty
I havent got one but i do fancy a Vorwerk. Anyone know anything about them? I have a miniature Vorwerk. She's very pretty but a bit skittish. My favs are cochins, brahmas and pekins. The brahmas are really intelligent but very placid. They won't put up with any messing about or agression from the hybrids but they never start any trouble. The cochins are thick but gorgeous. Hubby says when God was giving out chicken brains, the cochins couldn't even find the queue. The pekins are bolshy, in your face and generally bossy but great to watch. I love the feathery legged girls when the wind catches them up the bustle and when they run down the garden and take a little jump mid run. My splash cochin was spooked by a robin a few weeks ago and that made us laugh.
Milliechick
Thumbs up for the Pekin, I have 1 at the moment, and she's so entertaining! Like a ball of feathers 'bouncing' up the garden! Very good natured, as are my Austalorps, very easy to care for, run up the door every time you open it. Not scared by my little girl, she wants to stroke them whenever she sees them out the window. Good at giving the dog and cat a quick peck when they dare to go past them! (Dog being a big labrador, they are sooo much smaller than him)! grracee
I do love my Orps, they are very funny to watch, so busy all the time! Chesnut, my orp had me smiling today, she was getting in a big flap about laying an egg, in and out of the coop all the time, then she realised she wanted a drink so off she went running and then sprinting back up to the coop, made a nest and guess what, NO EGG!! Haha I also have 2 Barnebars and a Cream Legbar who I have to say are lovely chickens aslo very entertaining birds in their own ways, so... i can't pick a favourite out of mine
smokiechicken1969
I love reading all the comments about peoples favourite chickens. Im with the cream legbar fan club. Im not an experieced chicken owner and people think im mad when i say this, but if a chicken could have a sense of humour then my cream leg bar had one! she was such a funny girl and so friendly, but i dont know if thats the breed or just her personality. so nice to be spoilt for choice isnt it. i love the look of frizzles and silkies are so pretty but i would imagine they are more work? send a post on what you decide. how exciting
