I don't have a cube but have a wooden house with the exact same dimensions.

I would keep 3-4 bantams in the standard 2m run or 2-3 (depends on breed) LF hens.

If you had the 3m run and some FR then I would add 2 to each of those numbers if that makes sense :?

I would say no more than 3 with standard run and some free ranging :D

A standard run is 2m, you asked about 3m. I have 6 with 3m run - all seem happy - Omlet say 3m can do up to 10 chickens - personally I would not go above 6 with free ranging. Bantums could be more 8?

Yes, that sounds about what I thought. I have 4 bantams (Wyandotte and Pekin), Crested Legbar and an Aracuana. I do feel they have ample space especially as they spend 3 to 4 days a week out in the garden. I think with another meter (or two) extension, taking it to 4m (or 5m), I could happily home two more bantams. I'm sceptically of Omlet 10 hens, although my girls do rattle around in the house. :D

I think I'm going to get to more girlies! Maybe a Light Sussex bantam and then ????, any suggestions - a good layer and pretty??? :?:

Could you fit a WIR into your garden?

They have more space for more chickens, and if you sold your cube run(s) it wouldn't cost too much more :D

As for choosing chickens, if they're for eggs, what colour eggs do you want?

Maybe some dark brown or white eggs :D

Light sussex banties sound good :)

I have thought about a WIR, even got a quote £600+ too much, OH is no good a diy and really moans about helping. I will stop at 8 (I'll be strong), so a Cube train will be fine, now I've adapted the run door I can do all I need in there.

I believe I've heard that somewhere before.........somewhere around 6 in my house, being my original 3 plus 3 batties which actually became 4 on the day and I received 4 Orpies the previous day as a rescue.................I'm now at 18 & considering a few more littl'uns............

Good luck with your willpower!

I think Lewis got his WIR as panels which are quite easy to put together, as have others, maybe a friend could help with the DIY bit in return for a tasty supper for example?
