troyca
Just by way of information, I have put my garden shreddings on the floor of the run and they seem to work well. By the time I have to change them, they should contribute positively to the compost heap. I have a cover over the walk in run, but the edges still do get a bit wet . Should my next flooring be Aubiose, or wood chip-or a mixture of the two ? opinions please
legend21
Im an auboise person, have used chip so cant comment, have you put ikea shower curtains at the sides to stop rain getting in? J
Tutti Frutti
I'd never go back to wood chip - ugh, I remember the soggy mess! Aubiose all the way for me now (newly converted at Xmas!). The thing that prevented me getting Aubiose before was thinking it would get wet/blown around (shower curtains have fixed that) and also finding a supplier! Then I stumbled upon this http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=7533 and there's a supplier only miles from me HTH
batcatz
I've recently changed from bark to wood chip. Bark was cheaper, but started composting v quickly when wet. Wood chip is a big improvement. The run looks so much nicer and its easier for the chooks to scratch around in. I'm waiting to see if it lasts longer as bark lasted about 2 weeks if it rained everyday. My run has tarp on it, but its not covered at the sides. Also, water drips though the lovely little holes the cats have made. lol. Auboise will be my next choice if this doesn't work out. It's the most popular choice on here.
