kannie
Here's a link to the Alzheimers Society factsheet on aluminium: http://http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/Facts_about_dementia/Risk_factors/info_aluminium.htm In a nutshell, they say: There is circumstantial evidence linking this metal with Alzheimer's disease but no causal relationship has yet been proved. As evidence for other causes continues to grow, a possible link with aluminium seems increasingly unlikely. They also say: Only a minute proportion of the aluminium we ingest from ... various sources is absorbed by the body, and even this small fraction is usually excreted in the urine or harmlessly deposited in bone which acts as a 'sink' to remove aluminium. So effective are these mechanisms that it is estimated that the adult human body contains 30-50mg of aluminium - far less than the amount in a single antacid tablet! So if people are worried, maybe they should ban antacid tablets from their bathrooms before deodorant!

AJuff
I tried everything on the market without success, crystals, powders etc etc. The I found www.mypure.co.uk They do a range of chemical free deodorants thet work and are not too pricey. They come in a range of nice smells too and they often have special offers. I tried their cleaning spray too but my shower started growing mould so I'm back to domestos all purpose cleaner until I find an alternative that works. Happymama
Does anyone know of a good one? I haven't worn antiperspirant on a daily basis for quite a few years, and find I only need it for work (and I now only work 4 days a week ) or going out. I have tried Bionsen, but it wasn't strong enough for me As these aluminium free products are quite expensive, and before I get carried away buying loads of different ones, I wondered if anyone could recommend a good one? I've got Bionsen, and it's brill. But I apply it twice. Three squirts each armpit (shaved) when I get up, and then another three squirts when I get dressed after going to the loo and getting the kids started. I swish it around with my fingers too to spread it around and stop it running down my ribs. This works very well, and I used to use Mitchum cream. I'm not bothered about the aluminium, per se. More a concern that I don't want to use a potentially harmful chemical (or heavy metal) when I don't have to. And it's CHEAP cos you can refill the bottle several times! I think it's Brilliant.
