what do I tell OH about WIR

Recommended Posts

Hello All, I know you have given me advice before re WIR. Well after a false start with the building of the WIR, it has now been set for next Sunday. I have been trying to talk OH into getting concrete base but he is not for it as we may move this year. However had guy round to talk about tidying up the back garden when run is built, he has jut put the cat among the chickens!!, suggested moving the run to top of garden and lots and lots of other things that all make sense, make the back garden nicer and bigger and give the girls a really nice run when they are out of the WIR but still keeps them at the wilder part of the garden where they currently dustbath. I have told him to come back on Friday afternoon and meet OH. I want this but have still to be told the cost, but remember I have saved about £450 on what I would have paid Tony (in fact that thought has just come to me) so do I buy a nice bottle of wine for him coming home and talk about it or wait until Thursday night and bring up the meeting with the gardener. It really would make the garden great only fly in ointment is cost. decisions decision

We have a concreat run as it would be a mud bath for the girls most of the year and not nice standing it that for them or me.Plus it stops foxes digging under and makes cleaning a lot easier too.I would bring it up but just say it depends on the price. If your planning on moving can you imagn what it would be like taking it out of dirt it would last longer on a good base. :dance:let us know how it all gose and dont for get pics :dance:

Tell him you NEED a solid base :lol:

We are just in the throes off moving our WIR, from side to back of the garden due to a rat problem :|

Started with eglu, then hubby built hugh WIR, then concreated around edges and put down wire, and still the rats dug .

Last week put down hard core and base, cost around £100 but it nearly killed him

He is 56

Next week we do the move. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but nothing is too much for my girlies, have now used all my savings for the new bathroom on them :clap:

(pink eglu) + WIR

GNR Lavender

GNR Mable

(white chicken) Marjorie

GNR Violet !egggreen!

Tell him it just makes sense to do whatever you need to do now. There is no point in doing something half hearted that really isnt what you want when you can spend an extra few pennies getting the perfect run for your garden and your girls. :D Otherwise if you go for the first option you will regret it and be saying "if only......"

Thank you, all of you are of course correct, it is best to spend the money now and do the job right, I might remind him that we have had the bathroom replaced 3 times because we went for the cheap option at first and second go. Will put all of these to him

thanks again

Erm.....if you might be moving, what's the point??? Surely you'd be better to wait and see if you are moving and spend less money giving the garden a general tidy round in order to sell the house. Then, really go to town in your next house???

Seems madness to build a dream WIR now, if you're going to have to walk away from it in a few months????

Just an opinion!
