My kids and I too like Howls Moving Castle and Kiki's Delivery service He has such a vivid imagination. Some of the voice overs can be a bit annoying though (a bit too high pitched and very fast). I think we've seen Spirited Away, not sure. Edited to say I just checked out the synopsis on Wiki and yes, we have seen it. YD said it was scary. Olly
I was until I read the words 'Spirited Away' and then I realised who you mean - that's the only film that I've seen by him, but it's really good!
Scramble
Sorry???? Studio Ghibli is a japanese animation film studio. Hayao Miyazaki is one of the main directors. They make anime films. Ponyo is the latest release.
C&T
Oh, I got given some Japanese animation films - I really enjoyed them. Quirky and different - and a lot less cheesy than Disney (although I do of course love a bit of Disney once in a while!!). Don't know if they are all like that, or just the couple I was given? I must dig them out and watch them again!
laurmurf
Ponyo, ponyo, ponyo is a fish-child! We LOVE this film (and all the other Studio Ghibli films). In fact we named the last hatch 'Ponyos' in honour of this film (just ask HENthusiastic: she's got some of the girls in her field ) we had some boy Ponyos too (we've got them in our tummies )

Helly Welly
I've been waiting for Ponyo for a year, we're going to see it this weekend. Have you seen The Girl Who Leapt Through Time? There will be another film by the same studio called Summer Wars which will go straight to DVD in September this year. I'm also keeping an eye out for Mai Mai Miracle, again from the same studio but it's hard to find a release date at the moment. For Christmas, we got all the Studio Ghibli films we didn't have and we've been working our way through them. My favourite would have to be My Neighbour Totoro but i adore Kiki's delivery service, Howls Moving Castle and Spirited away. I have Totoro bags, earrings and necklace, i make soot sprites from pom-poms and rarely go a wek without watching a DVD. Did anyone see Astroboy as well? We all really enjoyed it, very suitable for the younger viewer but don't let that put you off. Oh, and Howls Moving Castle is a very good book. Scramble
I love the book of Howl's Moving Castle I made a crochet Totoro I keep meaning to post him on the crafty section. I don''t know if there's one new you, but there is a shop called 'Tokyo Jazz Panda' which sells Ghibli stuff, keyrings, posters etc. As well as other cute stuff in general. I haven't seen the any from the other sudio but they sound interesting Will look out for them. I want to see 'Tales from Earthsea' (I think it's called) which was made by Miyazaki's son My mum loves Kiki's Delivery Service, but mostly, I think she just wants to live in the town
HENthusiastic
Indeed, the two ponyo girls are doing fantastically well. They are a lovely temperament, friendly girls, beautiful girls and big girls. They are also quite vocal when I hold them. Thanks Laurie Edited February 19, 2010 by Guest
Helly Welly
I want to see 'Tales from Earthsea' (I think it's called) which was made by Miyazaki's son My mum loves Kiki's Delivery Service, but mostly, I think she just wants to live in the town I always want to live in all the studio ghibli worlds too Tales from Earthsea is really good actually and is another place i'd like to live. Have you noticed the ghibli name popping up in the films? As the bus goes under the bridge and kiki nearly flys into it, the bus says ghibli on the side. Porco Rosso's engine on his plane is called a ghibli engine, although there is an engine company called ghibli in real life. I watched Laputa yesterday and the fox-squirrel from Nausicaa pops up in Laputas garden. I love looking out for these things You can pick up DVDs on Amazon for about £8-9 or try http://cex.com
