sage
Cube is ready; WIR is on order, 6 ex bats due in April. Is the “1 Glug and Grub" going to be enough for 6 hens or do I need another of each??? Or will I be better getting different feeder/water dispensers. What have you all got? Ain't Nobody Here
I had one of each for 3 girls. I then got 2 more girls so bought another grub/glug (for introductions). I now use 2 grubs and one glug and it works fine for the 5 of them. I'd probably get 2 sets of each if I had 6 girls (but someone who has 6 will no doubt be along to confirm if that's right!) legend21
I have 6 ex bats, I have 2 grubs and 3 little cups that you can order for about £1.50 each, as they fought terrible over the food, they were so scared that they might not get any, so it was good to have the feeders spread about the run, I have one water glug and one very large water glug, they all seem fine with that Jackie
veggiemad
I have ex batts and originally had 1 grub. But within a few days i bought some little pots as they need as many feeding stations as poss as mine fought over the food really badly so i would say get pots pots and more pots - if you can get 6 in there is would be best -even if they are small beacuse at least they can all eat at the same time and one hen can't guard all six!! Water- i had 1 glug , but found the water got really dirty quickly so bought a superglug, (they are meant to be used to the teat system as this is what is in the farm ) however, i now have 2 bowls of water and 2 superglugs and they prefer the bowls to be honest and it seems the dirtier the water the better!! Good luck with your ex batts they are fab. The first week is the worst, but its all smiles from then on. Well done for rescuing them xx
Space Chick
I agree that they will be protective over food, so the more feeding stations the better. Once established though, its up to you. I have 12 girls, and have a large treadle feeder and 2 grubs. Then I have a 30 litre drinker.
Ain't Nobody Here
These are good for grit and would do for initial extra feeding stations . If you do a search for "coop cup" you'll find various types available.
Cooks
the only thing I find is when the rain lashes against the sides the grit pots fill up with water sooooo if you drill a drainage hole in the bottom this doen't happen. thats what I do anyhoos. I only use these for grit.
chick wiggle
I agree with whats been said, with ex bats a couple more feeding stations the better. Smiths in Cottingham sell feeders and drinkers and the little cage cups for the grit Sue.
jimnpaula
I got 7 ex bats and a new cube. They got on fine with the superglug, but I quickly realised that another feed station would be a good idea. I asked in the 'wanted' section for more grubs & glugs and got another grub and normal glug - they prefer the normal glug. I'm finding this is just about enough so long as you clean them quickly when they get muddy - which I don't, so that's why I have obtained yet another grub and a spare superglug. I use galley pots/coop pot for their grit. P
ubereglu
I have a grub and an old style peanut feeder for my 4 hens as they can be a bit impatient when it comes to breakfast! Although I used to just use the one feeder when I had three hens. Where glugs are concerned I have 1 and various other drinkers around the garden for them to use.
