joza2210
Hello Right so i know i told some of you that i am getting some pekins but im not now just waiting to confirm that he has them available. So i am getting a cuckoo or black silkie and some colour of orpington. So i have a orpington question... Are orpingtons supposed to have fluffy feet because the man i am getting them off has a picture on his site and i found another picture of another orpington. This is the picture of the mans orpingtons : And this is another picture i found : So will the non feathery legs be under all that fluff on the first picture or well i dont know ? Thanks
tom123
Orpingtons should definitely not have feathery feet or legs. They could be Pekins or Orp x ? Their legs could be hidden underneath all the fluff but they do look very low to the ground I would go and see for yourself. Lewis
Orpingtons should defiantly not have feathery feet or legs. They could be Pekins or Orp x ? Their legs could be hidden underneath all the fluff but they do look very low to the ground I would go and see for yourself. There it goes again Tom - if you know what I'm getting at? Not sure they should be that covered in feathers, so might not be the best if you were looking at showing these too? - nice looking though

There could be some Cochin in there if they have feathered legs I suppose but they are orp like, bit low slung granted but it could be the grass giving that effect

Griffin
The chook in the second photo is younger than the top pair so she'd have less feathers, they take an age to grow to full size.

grracee
the orp in the second photo is mine, haha my two are now full size & laying and this is what they look like now: as you can see you can still see abit of their legs under all the fluff they have (and they do have alot!!) but they dont have fluffy feet, so im guessing like other people have said that the chickens in the first pictures might be some sort of cross. not sure but they are nice looking birds in that pic! JamesAyres
I have a Black orp and she has feathers that are very low to the ground, they do hide her feet quite well. She just picks up every bit of mud she can i her feather though.....
Valkyrie
Yes, mine have dirty knickers at the bottom where they drag on the ground - you could see their legs better when they were young. Cochin cross perhaps if they have feathered feet and big girls? Ooh I just love the big round ones - feathered footed or not.
Daphne
Orps should definitely not have feathered legs. But you shouldn't see much leg in a good quality orpington female. I can't tell definitively what these are without seeing the leg, although they do look like orps to me (and quite good ones). If they do have feathered legs then I would think they are cochins, or cochin x orp. I'm sure in real life it would be easier to tell.
