Marky D
Hi all, Can someone tell me if you can get plastic roosting bars for the Mark 1 eglu's? Thanks, Mark.
Lewis
Not that I'm aware of - don't think they still make the wooden ones either now
Egluntyne
No, Omlet don't make plastic bars for the Mark 1 Eglu. I would ring to enquire about wooden bars.
Marky D
So what do people with Mark 1 Eglu's do about replacing the roosting bars? I am thinking about buying a Mark 1 eglu but not sure now......Any advice?

Stevie
I know its probably not quite what you want, but most DIY shops sell 'Plasticote' aereosol cans.Provided the timber is sound and dry-it sticks to just about any surface and will give it a plastic coating. Olly
Why not ring Omlet, as suggested, and they'll be able to tell you if you can still get the Mark I roosting bars. They should normally last a few years anyway, but I recall there were a few people on here who'd made their own wooden bars, as they're a fairly simple design. ubereglu
I think the answer is you can't, this came up a while back. You can make your own replacements though which you could slot into the existing spaces, it's a relatively simple job.

Chook n Boo Mum
Erm....i might give Omlet a ring.....erm thought i'd try getting some advice on here first.....erm thought that was what this forum was for It is but many of us don't actually have the Mk1, so haven't needed to get new bars for it We can only advise what we would do in your situation, ie make our own or ring Omlet Good luck with your plan to buy a Mk1.......having looked at several of this version on eBay, I have considered whether my big fluffy Orpingtons would have problems getting in the door should they need to as it's quite a bit smaller than the Mk2. What chooks are you planning to live in there.........nosey moo that I am Sha x
Marky D
Was thinking (been adviced) to get a couple of Black Rock's, someone near us has got one which we met when we went to visit there Eglu (very interesting and well worth a visit). There is a Red Mark 1 Eglu for sale on ebay which ends soon but am now having some reservations, might hang out for a Mark 2, just hard to find a good priced 2nd hand on near me (Wakefield). Redwing
Absolutely thats what its for but if you posted your query on Thursday you could have had all the answers by now by phoning Omlet, its not a dig but while we are supremely helpful we dont have all the product info as we dont work for Omlet, I understand that the bars never came in plastic and the wooden ones have been discontinued but if you contact Omlet they can tell you if thats true and if so they can advise the measurements so you can look at improvising
Cooks
I can only echo what others have said, it's my understanding from posts on here previously that the mark 1 roosting bars and parts for the mark 1 are discontinued with Omlet (as are the mark 1 eglus themselves) however if you checked with Omlet they have accurate information. If I were you I would hold out for a mark 2 as they have a bigger door, you wont then have to worry whether a girl you buy will be a little big for it I held out for a bargain mark 2 and got one for £165 so they do come up . Good Luck.
