Sparklysocks
Last week I noticed Pecky-Becky had a shorter upper-beak than lower. A small bit appears to have snapped off. There is no bleeding and she does not appear distressed in anyway. She is eating and drinking normally. She is wearing a bumper-bit which has been attached for about 3-4 weeks due to a bullying problem (now resolved since using the bumper bits). Her beak was definitely intact when I applied the bumper-bit. So I'm wondering, could the bumper-bit have done any damage to the beak? Is it easy for hens to break their beaks? Do beak's grow back? I'd be grateful of any advice from fellow forum members who may have experienced a similar problem.
Ain't Nobody Here
Not experienced it myself but have seen a few posts about broken beaks. I gather it's not a problem as long as they can still eat and drink. I don't think they grow back.
sjp
big red broke part of the tip off her beak just after I got her last year but it grew back. but I think it depends on how far up the brake is
