fluffyknickers
If I had the chance I would bake all day long! Thing is we are putting on weight!!!! Jus second ago I was listening to a lady talking on local radio and she makes and sells cakes and biscuits and was talking about her savoury biscuits like chilli, thyme, herbs, cheese etc so I fancy making some savoury ones for a change. They did ask her whast was in them and she said flour, oatmeal and oil plus then the added flavour. Anyone got any recipes for savoury biscuits to enjoy on their own or with cheese/pate etc? PurpleTree
Think I've got a recipe for cheese-y biscuits somewhere, I'll have a look later. I quite often prefer savoury things to sweet things, love cheese scones but hubby's not keen so I don't make them often.

PurpleTree
Found it, it's in a book my MIL gave me, I haven't actually made anything in it yet but I've looked through it with good intentions quite a few times This one's in the section 'Cooking with Children', so seems pretty easy. Easy Cheesy Biscuits. Ingredients. 4oz (100g) plain flour 2oz (50g) butter or margarine 2oz (50g) cheese Splash of milk 1 egg yolk 1tsp paprika Method. 1. Sieve flour & paprika into large bowl. Rub in butter/marge until resembles rough breadcrumbs. 2. Add grated cheese, stir, then make a well in centre, pour in milk & egg yolk. Mix it all together to make a firm dough. 3. Put dough on floured surface and knead for a bit. Divide dough into two pieces, wrap one half in clingfilm and keep in fridge while you roll out the other half. 4. Cut the biscuits out, place on lightly greased trays and bake on Gas Mark 5 (190C) for 10-15 mins, until the biscuits are a light golden brown. It says you can leave out the egg yolk if you like, same with the paprika. Also points out that the thinner you make them the crisper they'll be, so maybe a bit of trial and error to get them how you want them. Good luck.
