kannie
I seem to remember someone saying that layers mash doesn't compost well. Our chooks have made a thick compacted layer of hemcore, poo, and mash on the run floor. It's quite smelly underneath. Do you think this will compost OK? Seems a shame to waste all that lovely poo & hemcore.
Martin B
I think it would be ok to use. Not an exper though!
Lindy Loo
We have lots of great compost and all the hemcore, bits of layers mash and poo all contribute to the mix. I also put on all my uncooked vege matter, some newspaper and also some shredded paper along with all the garden cuttings.
The Dogmother
Me too lindy - mine seems to rot down well. In fact, I've just cleaned out the run and laid new Aubiose; I forked it over and took off the top inch of soil and compacetd stuff and put it straight on the garden. The aubiose seems to compost like a dream.
