ChrisEllis
Hi, Its all going a bit odd at the moment. Firstly They were all laying, then i was getting one chicken egg a day, and suddenly i am getting one two days running and they are both white eggs not blue...and then our duck layed outside which she never does Should i put the eggs back in the coop if they lay them outsie and keep them in there untill she starts lalying inside again? Also can keeping eggs in the coop encourage broodiness in my silkies??
Egluntyne
Have you checked for red mite? This might make them reluctant to stay in the coop. Why not try a couple of ceramic eggs in the nest box? They won't get broken or spoiled, and you can enjoy any eggs that are laid that way.
ChrisEllis
Well , ihavent seen any red mite, where would i find them? I just recently painted the coop and sealed it more so i don't think there would be any and i changed the wood shavings. hmm
Egluntyne
They are microscopic and lurk in corners, crevices and under roof felting. If you find tiny clusters of red blobs.... there's the answer. Might be worth giving the coop a once over with Poultry Shield, to rule this out.

Egluntyne
You can get it on line and from agricultural type shops. Am not sure that Pet Shops would sell it tbh.
