techie question - dvd files .vro

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I know there are some very clever people out there, and was wondering if anyone had experience with dvd files from camcorders.

I'm a still photography girl, and can do anything with jpeg, tiff, psd and so on, but when it comes to video I'm as lost as a stray toddler in Glastonbury...

I once had a video camera that recorded .vob files (i think) and somehow managed to translate (as i like to call it) the files into something else that people could generally view on their pc or dvd player (was it .avi or something, no idea), and now i have a friend who lent me a recording of a music event my child took part in, and the files are .vro...

As I have adobe premiere (for my own video files, which seem to be .mts??), I assumed it would play files from any end-user, consumer aimed camcorder... but it doesn't recognise the files, it seems to assume the folder is empty (over 1GB doesn't sound empty to me).

Now even as a semi-pro photographer, I've always thought Adobe was making Photoshop too obscure... I learned it but it is not a user friendly program... but compared to camcorders and their files, photoshop is a toddler's easy game....

Pls anyone, help...

Surely camcorders are family friendly things, meant to record your kids' ballet dance or end of year theater play... so why are all these files not recognised by the average (or good) laptop, why do I need to convert, and why do I have no converter?

If anyone could lend a hand, I would be deeply and eternally grateful.

And willing to lend a hand with photography and photoshop manipulation any time :) .

Thanks,

Hi Fred,

Thank you so much, changing the filename to .mpg did work, thank you so much.

I must admit when I posted this with 'Hi everyone' I was hoping you'd be around... but the speed of the answer was just way beyond any hope or expectation.

Thanks again :D:D
