Plum
After plotting and planning how to have my cube and WIR. You know cube in or cube out, face this way or that in a very limited space and still be able to empty poo trays and reach doors. I suddenly realised after seeing Jackie's (Legend21's) run, I can have a hole to put the cube part in and part out. Should be able to fit a 12 x 6 run in the space and they'll have double the space they have now. Having trees cut back and stump removed from area next week and one of his men is going to give me a quote for the concrete base. Keep your fingers crossed it's not too much. Then I'll get run ordered I'm off to pencil and paper again to draw some more plans
legend21
Glad you have decided on what to do, make sure you do the picture thing, no-one can take as long as mine did to finish, and like you got trees cut to make room, so looking forward to seeing the end result Well done Jackie

chick wiggle
Dontya just love it when a plan comes together Good thinking Plum, almost as exited about your run as you are, its bin a long time in the planning but as the saying goes, good things come to those that wait
Plum
Almost as long as it took me to get the chooks to begin with

Plum
Back to drawing board forgot that the cube wheels and support will prevent a bracing piece at ground level across that bit. Do you think that a piece of wood across higher up would give it enough stability?
legend21
Plum you have lost me with your technical ability, my cube sits on two bits of wood, with about 6 inches of the cube inside the run, it is very solid and does not move, you can see it on picture 5, of course this may not be what you are taking about at all in which case, just ignore this email Jackie

Plum
Thanks. Men coming to cut trees back tomorrow and remove massive tree stump in the way. Will have to move chooks into conservatory for the day One of the men giving me a quote for the base as well so fingers crossed for a good one. When base is down I'll know exactly what room I have. legend21
Steptoe would be very proud, lovely garden, why not leave bit of tree in run, my girls love the two stumps I left, even the baby cat cries to get in the run to sit on one of the stump, cat and six girlies fight over them. Plum
Hilarious, poor kitty. The stump is at the edge of the slabs by the fence just where one side of the run will be. I may ask to keep it to put in the run though or a massive branch that is coming off, at present going into next door garden.
