Cooks
Anyone use Bearts Layers/Growers pellets?? how have you found them? They are a lot cheaper than some but I have been told that they are pretty good but I would like your opinions. Good and Bad.
Stevie
Never tried the brands you've mentioned Cookie, but mine are currently on 'Farmgate' mash from Bottisham and i must say their appetite for this stuff is very very good. Its a lot more grainier than Dodson & Horrells mash, but it dont have the pleasing smell. Cooks
well mine are on garvo but the availability for me is a problem if I suddenly need more feed so I was thinking of switching to a feed I can get locally. Stevie does bottisham only sell mash?? thats only up the road from me and I have read about farmgate last night on the net funny enough. mine hated fancy feeds .. shame as it was cheap. The Dogmother
I switch around but haven't seen that brand around here. Mine usually get Smallholder pellets, tried the Dodson & Horrell mash, but they hated it and made such a mess. They like Garvo mash, but it's hard for me to get as the stockist near here isn't open at weekends. They do make such a mess with mash too, despite having non-mess feeders! If you want a pet disinfectant, then try Virkon, Bio VX, Viratec P or Barrier V1
Cooks
yup I made a boo boo once and bought mash instead of layers (the bacgs are really alike on smallholders) so I gave the part used sack to Redwing, it drove me crazy with the mess they made.. I felt like following them around with a dustpan and brush.. Yes-only mash Cookie, but i find chooks prefer it over pellets and atleast im guaranteed they're eating. Its about £7 per bag which is about same as Dodson & Horrells, but like i said earlier-it dont have the nice smell for some reason.Infact it dont really smell of anything, but the chooks like it which is what matters. Chook n Boo Mum
I have mash and pellets in the winter & make the mash up into porridge for the little darlings at teatime..once the weather warms up properly I shall stop the mash porridge again Yes I know I can make porridge from pellets, but I just prefer to make it from mash..and the feathered ones think it's a treat as it's different & is served in bowls rather than the feeders Bless them Mine were less than impressed with the Farmgate stuff......they are Smallholders Free Range girls , never heard of the Beardy one Cookie Sha x
