Chicken boarders

Im sorry to say that Precious Poppy didn't make it. She started getting pecked again yesterday so I seperated her. She seemed happy enough but we found her last night laid on the floor, looked like she had died quite suddenly!

 

Cried my eyes out all last night, I know i only had her for a little over a month, but she was my favourite. I had spent the last few day looking after her!!

 

She laid her 1st egg on Monday which was my birthday and her second hours before she died!

 

Now have the task of telling my 9 year old daughter that her chicken has died didn't tell her this morning because I didnt want her going to school upset!

 

RIP little Poppy, Miss you already!! xxx

oh dear......I know how you feel.....we lost Daisy to a fox yesterday. My two children (8 and 5) know that she was attacked and that she went to the vet for an operation but we have not yet told them that she did not pull through. Certainly not something to explain before school.

 

We are not sure how to tackle it when they get home......won't be easy!! She was the pet of my 5 year old boy.....
