Just an Observation...

I think it is just an inbuilt resistance that men have. It took me two years to convince my husband to get my four girls and now he is the most doting hen mummy you could imagine. He hasnt quite managed to clean the cube yet though - leaves that to me - maybe that is why we are nearly all girls, men want the eggs and the hens but not the responsibility or the mess :D

It was actually my husband that wanted chickens, he had to persuade me

Mostly as I knew I'd be the one to do the cleaning out etc etc

However, getting the girls was the best thing we ever did, and we love spending time with them together, and whilst I always clean out the poo trays and cube (apart from the pressure wash days  ), he does always do the bulk of the heavy work on the big WIR cleaning days  So we share the responsibility more than I anticipated. :D

I didnt want chickens either - Kev wanted them a lot more than I did - he does the cleaning and emptying of poo trays - I feed/water and collect eggs :D:D:D

I think that there are more women on the forum though - I definitely chat on here a lot more than Kev does :lol:

This is why our username is inclusive, and we sign off with an initial to show who posted. It's just something we carried over from another forum. (Just noticed though that 'our' avatar is a wee mee of me in uniform with a stethoscope around my neck!)

As for chicken duties - he gets to go out most mornings to collect eggs and refresh grubs & glugs, I get the cleaning out job, and wash the eggs. He gets to clean the ferrets out instead.

But it can be difficult to guess gender from forum nicknames perhaps, and we then make assumptions.

That is so true :) . A couple of times on here I have made gender assumption that has subsequently turned out incorrect - I think we do it without thinking and most of the time our conversations don't require us to reveal our assumptions.

For record I am male - DW hasn't much interest in computer type things - I think we're pretty 50/50 (but then I would wouldn't I  ). I generally clean the cubes and the ponds. I refill the feeder but then it is a 25Kg bag to lift and refill the water butt for the drinker. Letting them out, putting them to bed is 50/50.

No idea ISCA
