Cube and homemade run possible??

Recommended Posts

So Plum - as I don't (yet?) have a Cube, does the run butt up square to it? I'm not sure if the Cube is slightly shaped or not. With my existing run and wood house I use cabin hooks to fix the house and run together and I guess I'm a bit worried about gaps. Thanks.

I dont know how much (if at all) the outside shell overhangs the front panel

If it did then I'd probably make a batten frame on the run that sits against the cube grey front while the outside shell touches the run (IYSWIM)

Certainly the weight of the cube wont let it move however you could pass some bungees through the run wire and through the vent holes on the cube if you were worried

Yes - thats probably a better idea Tasha, thanks. I have a neighbour with a Cube so I'll go and see exactly what I'd be dealing with I think. Although I have just realised this very minute that I have a reasonable size woodstore which could be converted into a WIR. Actually with more work it could be converted into 3 decent size breeding pens. OMG what has come over me

Calming down, I think I'll stick with my original plan. Don't think OH/neighbours are ready for world domination just yet :D

The coloured shell doesn't overhang the grey face - it is all flush :D

To be able to slide the roof (to remove the back panel) it would be beneficial to have a frame around the top of the cube but the gap would be rat/mice creepy crawly space. Cookie's OH solved this by cutting a piece of wood shaped like the cube rood to fill the gap.

My cube is butted up to the panels with two horizontals flush to the grey. Will hunt out a pic.

To slide the roof I just tilt the cube back by engaging the wheels.....however it depends how tall the run is to be I spose

If the run is only as tall as the cube then you could attache weldmesh like you would a normal cube run I would think.

My idea is to have a run about 9 ft/12ft long which is in 2 sections for easy moving, including one section which is all boxed in to provide shelter. It'd be the height of the weldmesh panels (about 2.6 or 3 ft) which is another consideration when thinking about attaching/butting up to the Cube. I'd love to see a pic Em, thanks.

My cube buts against the mesh - I just have a 12" square hole cut in the mesh where the entrance to the cube is. I slither it backwards away from the run about 3" which is just enough to allow the roof to slide a little forwards and undo the backpanel.

Daphne, my (cube orange) has a mini run attached to it similar to the standard run on the (cube lilac) , but shorter as it sits on the ground :D ......this allows the roof to be slid forwards & back for cleaning, this mini-run is attached to the end wall of the WIR.......I'll get some pictures tomorrow to show you properly..........'tis a little on the dark side tonight :anxious:

I am just finishing off my WIR, trying to put on PVC roofing panels in the wind is not advisable so could not do that yesterday! My cube is on the outside, the top half is butted up to the wire mesh, but I thought that it would be nice to take advantage of the space underneath the cube as well, so I have built 3 smaller panels that will attach to the main WIR. The two side panels will be hinged onto the large run and the back panel will be locked on with two tower bolts and 2 rabbit hunch closures. So that you can take it off easily to move the cube back to clean it out. I will let you know how I get on.

Pictures will follow just as soon as I have located the cable that conects my digital camera to my PC!!!!
