fujcube
Hi, Our Light Sussex has had a semi-bald patch on her neck for a few weeks now and we're not very sure what's going on!! There is no evidence of feather pulling, bullying or any other sinister activity so we thought it may be a moult. There are signs of new feathers appearing but they are taking their time. There also seems to be some redness around the feather follicles. Whether it's a moult or not, I think it's time to treat my girls aginst worms, mites, louse and everyhting else they could possible catch. Being relatively new to the world of poultry, I'm looking for advice on which products to buy and where to buy them from. Ideally I'd like to buy everything from one source. Regards, fujcube
Redwing
Flubenvet for worming - you can get that on line or from an agricultural merchants Diatom for keeping the coop mite free Diatom for lice/mites on the chooks I'd also get some Johnsons lice spray (from places like pets at home) just in case you see lice or mites in the future, its systemic so has a lasting effect - its not licenced for use on poultry though and has an egg withdrawl time of a week
chelsea
I would also recommend Barrier Red Mite powder now that Summer is approaching. I don't use this on the hens themselves but give the cube a liberal dusting all over on clean out day, as a preventative against red mite and also smells lovely. Plum
I use the same as Tasha. Not had any redmite though.
The Dogmother
I use Flubenvet or Panacur* for worming Buz Busters louse powder in the housing Ivomec Eprinex* on the birds for lice/mites, and a louse spray when/if needed *Not licensed for use on poultry in the UK, but prescribed by most vets
