l_ouise
Hello. I just got my new chickens home and i noticed one of them seems to have the tip of it's beak missing at the bottom. It is otherwise fine and perky but it has difficulty pecking bugs and grass - it takes it a few times and by then another hen has nabbed the food! I was just wondering if it would fix itself or if it was permanent and needed some attention? Thanks
staceychristie
As long as she's feeding/drinking , it'll be fine. The beaks do grow. Are you sure they haven't been trimmed deliberately? Stacey
l_ouise
To be perfectly honest, i don't know. I don't think so though because there were a LOT of chickens and she had a whole farm to sort out. We picked up three chickens but the first two were from a different breeder an hour or so away so when we got to the third chicken we were pretty much in and out to get the first two home asap. The first two chickens have pointed beaks but the third one is more rounded at the end. Thanks for the response anyway, she does seem to be eating but struggles if the surface is uneven or the food moves.
staceychristie
Does she feed ok from a normal feeder? She should find that ok, as ours had mutant beaks (ex batts) but still manage to stuff their faces full. Stacey
