Still not really sure how much food to give poorly Evie

Recommended Posts

Well, Evie is nibbling but I'm still not sure how much food to let her have. The vet said she was very thin and obviously her appetite is feeling a tiny bit better toady but just how much should I give her ?

She has 3 little glass dishes, not much bigger than egg cups, that had different things in and she has eaten all but the tomato - do i just keep refilling them or give her more kind of breakfast, lunch then tea ?

Yeah, she hasn't really shown much interest in the pellets even when there was nothing else to eat. She did eat a few this morning though. I did give her some bird seed crumble stuff and some mealworms but she hasn't eaten them all. Normally they would be gone in minutes - she did really enjoy the whizzed up boiled egg (1/2 ) earlier. :D

I just popped her into the dog cage thing and she happily tucked into the rest of the egg, some potato and a bit more bird seed. Tomorrow I will see what else I can tempt her with and she hope she stays on the mend.

Thanks so much for everyones help.

So glad she is a bit better. Eating and drinking is a good sign. I'd put some grit in her run if you have some, she will need it to digest the food. Like the others have said it doesn't matter what she eats as long as it's something. Mine like yogurt when they are under the weather. I think it must be quite refreshing for them. Natural yogurt with bokashi bran or porridge oats soaked in water first then a teaspoon of yogurt mixed in. Hope she has a good night.

If it's any comfort my Mabel was poorly like Evie for 10 days, hardly eating a thing, not even worms I dug for her!

She slowly started eating a little, like Evie is now, and gradually got her strength back, this morning she even laid an egg, the first for nearly a month!

Don't give up, I'm sure she will bounce back, they are such a worry!

She tucked into the tuna with the medicine on this morning but doesn't seem to have eaten quite so much today :( . Perhaps it was because I sprinkled some grit onto the pasta and put her off.

She has been nibbling a liitle bit and she seemed to be missing the others so I put her back in the play area for a while.

She has done a little chicken stuff but not much and her tail is still down most of the time but then it pops up for a brief spell .

I will top her up with some more goodies in a minute.

Thanks for all your best wishes and advice and maybe she'll recover like Mabel
