Can chickens eat corn on the cob? I was thinking I could occasionally hang them up and let the girls pick at them. Would they have to be cooked or is raw ok?

MIne beat their own record yesterday - made it last about 25 minutes!!!

 

I use fresh in the summer when it's cheap and frozen in the winter.

I do that too, It slows the greedy ones down aswell.

We stick a skewer through it, and then hang it on a piece of string from the clothes line. Every time they peck it, it swings about, so takes them ages, and is very funny to watch. They sort of growl and mutter as they attempt to eat the corn, which is so cute! It's even more tricky for them when frozen

 

If left on the ground it will be gone in minutes, if hanging and swinging it lasts a lot lot longer, and they are too preoccupied to be digging up the grass/flowers/veg!

Oooh - must try the giving it to them frozen as I always defrost it.

 

Best bit though is when they peck the little bits off each others' beaks - just can't get enough of it.
