cluckingmad
Suzie the sultan is utterly filthy. My lovely father in law looked after the girls while we were away and used rather too much stanislan F, so now Suzie is somewhat pink/brown looking! Same for Lilly, in other words both our white girls are now, well, not so. Suzie enjoys having a bath so we thought we'd indulge her to a bit of fussing this week-end, however don't know what to use to get her feathers really nice and clean again? Also, she really doesn't like having her head/neck wet, any suggestions how I can clean this area of her without her getting upset?
Plum
I'd just use mild shampoo, detergent and hope for best with lots of rinsing. You may be best using a cloth for the face and neck rather than pouring water over. Hope it comes out.
cluckingmad
rapidly adding baby shampoo to shopping list... or should that be shampoo for blondes?!
squidsin
I used my baby son's organic lavender body wash to give one of my pekins a bath the other day. It's actually quite hard getting (in this case) hardened chook poo out of feathers!
cluckingmad
Ah, yes. Suzy gets that too, mostly becasuse she's so little and Flo and Etty effectively sit on her at night so she does get rather poo'ed on bless her! Then there's the knickers. Don't know how she manages it, but her bottom is always either covered in mud or poo!
chickyhazel
When Chestnut was alive ( RIP Chestnut) she always got a mucky bum, probably from sleeping in the nesbox. Luckily it was always fairly easy to wash.
Space Chick
I use a flannel with some mild shampoo to bath mine in areas where they don't like getting wet
