patsylabrador
My bantams so far go broody together, which makes it easier for me to get them out of it because I can just shut the coop door and leave them outside to cool down. I've also noticed that when they come out of it they have a tetchy, shouty day, a sort of 'Hello world, we're back' kind of day. I also noticed that the coop remains spotless during this time, and that they lose feathers ( which the garden birds have been collecting like crazy) and that they have curry poos. They have a couple of days when they seem tired and then they suddenly come back to normal and start crouching etc. Does this all sound familiar? Daphne
I'm not sure why "Ooops, word censored!"ody has replied - but yes, in my experience, whilst they are broody the coop stays cleaner, there are feathers around that they pluck from their breast to keep the eggs warm, there can be a bit of a transition from huge broody poos to more normal ones, and yes, sometimes the bird is a bit quiet. This is because they don't usually eat as much and also presumably its a hormonal change to go broody so I figure they must need to change back!
