Omlet cube and run

I've been buying the 5 litre container of Ecover and decanting it into a smaller bottle for years with no problems but now it's gone all gloopy and has the consistency of wallpaper paste . It's impossible to decant and has been difficult to squeeze from the small bottle.

 

Anyone else had this? Any solutions . I wondered about adding some water .

I added a bit (just so it would go down the funnel into the bottle!) - result: a bottle full of soapsuds .

I had a 5l bottle and it separated - but I didn't realise - so the bottom third was really thick and gloopy. Thinking back, we did comment how runny the washing up liquid was when we opened the bottle....we now know to shake thoroughly before decanting!

 

To thin it out I would suggest water as well, maybe try and stir rather than shake.

I left it in the boiler cupboard in case the heat helped - it must've a bit as I managed to get it through a funnel into the smaller bottle (took ages though ).

 

I'll use the shaking the container tip next time I get it filled .

This happened to us when we left it in the garage over the winter its because it gets too cold and begins to solidify, a few days in a warm place and it should be back to normal!

It is slightly better now but I'm having to leave the bottle upsidedown or it takes a huge effort to squeeze the gloopy liquid out .

We used to use it and had the same problem. We just used a bottle that we keep upside down.

 

I'm afraid my hands are pretty allergic to it and in the end I had to give up and go back to normal washing up liquid as Ecover makes my hands crack and even bleed.

It contains SLS, which a lot of people are sensitive to.

 

I used to but Bio-D washing up liquid from Oxfam, but they have stopped stocking it now

I'm afraid I can't help either. I stopped using Ecover products because, although they are ecological, the company operates a 5 year rolling policy rather than a fixed cut off date for testing on animals.

 

Bio-D is both eco-friendly and not tested on animals. So are Co-op own brand ecological products.

....as do the Body Shop which is why I stopped using their products years ago. I didn't know the same was true of Ecover.....thanks for the heads up.

You could have asked me.

The latest is that some shops will continue to stock the successful Bio-D washing up liquid, but not the rest of the range.

I don't think that will change, but I'll let you know if it does.

The whole range suddenly disappeared from the stores near me; I will have a look next time I go into one.
