Janepie33
We don't have a big house and after 17 years of hoarding (mostly books!) we have accumulated a great deal of 'STUFF'. It has taken 3 of us most of the evening to move everything elsewhere so that the carpet fitters can squeeze in to fit the new carpet. Result....... Upset cats. Lots of dust. Finding lost things. Lots of hassle... Maybe we should have stuck to the old carpet.
meezers
I don't envy you. Your house sounds like ours, I wish I could tip it upside down and shake everything out, then just put back what I need.
Olly
This brings back memories! Carpet is the worst, because EVERYTHING has to be moved, you can't just shift it around like you can when decorating. Think how lovely the new carpet will be though - and it's a great opportunity to chuck stuff out, I always feel really good when I've filled a couple of charity bags (shame I keep accumulating stuff to fill the space though )
bluekarin
I won't say I feel your pain as thats in room 101 but ................. We've just had to spend the past few days moving furniture away from windows to have new ones put in. Our house is quite small, and there are 5 of us, and we have to fit in the best we can, so kids beds are against windows and jam packed in with wardrobes and other furniture. Not even mentioning the toys and stuff all over the supposedly tidied floors It was hot work. But really, when you look back (once normality is resumed) it will have been be worth it. chickencam
I know how you feel, earlier this year we moved YD into our study downstairs and made her old very small room the study. We had no concept of how much stuff we had until the contents of 2 rooms were all over the rest of the house It was worth the effort though because we now have lovely views from upstairs and she has a bigger room that is easier for her to keep tidy. Seagazer
I don't envy you - the last time we did that at our old house we only had a small through lounge and the kitchen downstairs, we were having a new living room carpet. Attempting to fit everything from the lounge into the kitchen was not fun, we couldn't get much stuff upstairs as we had very narrow stairs. It was a nightmare But just think it will be all worth it when the carpet is down (but obviously you have to move it all back then )
