elpolloloco!
hi the place where we get our layers pellets from has just started to stock non-organic pellets and corn we have always fed our chickens on the organic ones, just wondered if there was a real difference between the two or even if my hens would notice the difference! thanks
Eggasperated
I initially used organic layers pellets and changed as I was trying out various things to see if it affected feather pecking. Personally I didn't find it made any difference to anything (including the feather pecking ), apart from my pocket - my conscience suffered for a while as well but I decided that providing the pellets are good quality and the hens eat them there isn't a real problem. Hope this helps.
Redwing
Pellets come in all sorts if types No egg colourant added All natural ingredients No hexane (whatever that is) non GM etc.. If your land isnt organic then you cant call the eggs organic, if you were using organic because you think its best and more natural then try choosing a brand that have a more natural approach Mine wont touch organic pellets
Mollie333
When i first got my girls i fed them growers, then when they were ready, i went back to the breeder and got Organic Layers Pellets can't remeber the brand, but somehow the girls wouldn't touch them!! so i thought its because they've been on growers, i carried this on for ages, but they wouldn't touch them. So i went to pets at home and desperatly grabbed a bag of Dodson and Horrel.. thats what they have from now on.

grb944
When I went to cotswold chickens to get my first lot of supplys, I entended to my the organic layer lellets form the Smallholder Range.. The store owner ask me why I wanted organic and she showed me to laminated cards each showing the nutritional values for both product..organic and non-organic..The non-organic had double the vitamons amd esstential oils and all the major things in it were non Gm or something else god Point being..she thought organic was not as good as the normal, so I brought normal She also recommended I had mash instead of pellets as the were going to be in the run 90% of the time..this would keep them busy as mash takes more time to eat than pellets
