Soft Toy Recycling

Recommended Posts

Wonder why the charity shops won't have them?

I gave loads of soft toys to the nursery section of the local school. They let children hug one if they are ill or just not coping away from their mums.

I hasten to add I don't like cuddly toys, they were all freebies or charity fundraising purchases over the years (I did keep my childhood teddy though :D )

I trawled through the bag and sorted out the clean perfect condition smaller toys and have started 6 Operation Christmas child boxes. If I start popping odd bits into my shopping now I'll fill those by Christmas

I have one nice big very cuddly teddy in the bag of remainders so I'll try the infants school opposite for that.

Great idea re dogs Patricia, I have some friends with dogs I'll see if they can use any of the leftovers.

We seem to have rather fussy charity shops locally  and they often are at capacity so turn donations away.

Thanks to all for the ideas.

Does anyone know how/where I can recycle a sackful of soft toys ? Charity shops won't take them.

At our shop we only sell toys which have a CE label (unless they are collectables) for safety/litigation reasons. We do our best to find good homes for clean ones without CE labels, but we can't sell them.

Abwsco's school fair idea is what I'd suggest. Especially at this time of year, many junior schools will be holding Summer fairs. Ours always had a very popular "win a named teddy" tombola, perhaps you could suggest that with the donation of toys, and also a guess the name stall.
