Help: Green poo, lethargy, hot weather

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong? Topaz (ex bat) has been all hunched up today. I thought she might have a softy on the way as she has had these before with the "hunched and miserable" symptoms.

Let them out to free range this evening and she eventually gets out the door (unlike everyone else's rush), has a slow stroll down to the house end of the garden, stands around for a bit, then submits to a lengthy cuddle. Her feet were cool, her comb a bit floppy and, maybe, slightly cyanosed. When placed near a bowl of water she proceeded to drink quite a lot, during which she produced two lots of squirty, watery poo with bright green goo strands. She carried on drinking, then decided to go back down the garden to the run.

I assumed she had a softy on the way  but it has been quite hot here and the run is in full sun during the middle of the day, although the tarp gives some shade, maybe it wasn't enough. I also switched their food a week ago to Garvo which I thought they all liked, but I must admit I haven't checked to see if they're all eating.

I feel a bad chicken mummy as I haven't made enough effort to keep them shaded or check the food switch went ok. :(

If mine have the green strandy poo, like chopped spinach, it's usually because they haven't been eating enough..........did you change to Garvo suddenly or gradually? Perhaps if you still have some of the old food, try making up a porridge (if she normally likes that  ) to tempt her to eat again.

I hope she recovers

That's a great description of the type of poo... and yes, I did change the food over suddenly as we'd completely run out of the old stuff. As they'd had samples of the Garvo before I assumed they would be fine with the switch.

She survived the night and was in the run this morning so she's managing the cube ramp ok, and James reckons he saw her eating. I moved the superglug down so they can drink out of the top, and we'll be out in the garden today so they can FR while we clean their slabs.

Hopefully this was just a warning to me.
