Purplemaniacs
Ebony our last omlet girl died this afternoon. She has not been herself for a couple of days but didn't seem too bad this morning. DD came over after I had left for school as I was awaiting delivery of a washing machine and looked at Ebony and felt she had got worse but left her in the cube nest box as she looked comfy. DS looked a little later and she had died. He took her out and put her in a trug on some bedding. DD came back before I got home from school, to break the news. Ebony and Henny Penny the other omlet girl were lovely, both very friendly and put up with us when we didn't know what we were doing in the early chicken days The cube looked very empty when I put them to bed just now, only Ivory and Latte in the cube as the new girls are still in the eglu. Purplemaniacs
Thank you for your lovely comments. I was unsure of what to do with the body. When Henny Penny died she was cremated but we had a bad experience with a local vets, huge bill after being told on the phone they would do it for free. I had thought of the bin but not keen especially as she would have been there for almost a week so decided to have Ebony cremated. DD took her for me to a new vet that's opened and they were lovely, no problem bring her in the lady said and there was no charge. So pleased we decided to have her cremated. Ivory and Latte look a bit lost in the cube and WIR now, as soon as school finishes I must get on with getting the new ones in with old ones.
