North Devon - any places to visit recommendations

Recommended Posts

I love North Devon and go most years in October - although not this year :(

We all love Combe Martin Dinosaur Park, they have a few animals as well such as wolves and furry little things like lemars etc, you could also go down to the beach at Combe Martin and fish in the rock pools for crabs - that is the absolute favourite of all our kids (we go down 2 or 3 families).

Lynton and Lynmouth have a really steep climb down and you can get the cliff railway up and down (it uses water) its not very expensive. There is also a lovely walk along the river there.

The Big Sheep is near Clovelly and is also good fun, they have lots of animals to pet (including some chickens) and also indoor slides in case the weather is dodgy. Adults can go on the slides too :D

You could wander down to Clovelly (you have to pay to go down to the village), its quite pretty and quaint. Dartington Glass is close as well, you can do the factory tour and watch them blowing glass, its quite interesting.

Have a lovely time, if I think of anything else I'll add it on. :D

p.s. we normally do lots of walking, there are plenty of coastal paths and pretty little villages to explore although last year my 12 year old son was a bit  at having to do some every day.

Hi There

My sister & Brother in law own a working water mill & yummy Cream Tea shop with potterry gifts etc.

You can see Graham grinding the corn powered by the water wheel and have alook round the mill.

Its called HELE BAY Corn Mill

Hele bay is just down the road from ilfracoomb. The tunnel caves were great for rock pooling and the crazy golf was cheap good old fasion fun.

Say Hi from Liz if you see them!

I was going to recommend the dinosaur park at Coombe martin too, we went when our children were younger. i am not a fan of these attractions as a rule but it was so much better than expected. They had a falconry display and a time for handling all sorts of snakes, other reptiles and other animals, which the kids loved.

One time we went there and watched the display the bird of prey decided he didn't want to come back and landed in the field across the road. Combe Martin is special to me as my aunt and uncle lived there for years and so did my Nan.

We always stay in Woolacombe and it is a great beach, around the corner is shell beach which is great for collecting shells. We've also done horse riding at Woolacombe which everyone enjoyed.

Oh I really want to go now!
