Hi, I keep geese and chickens just the 3 geese but 36 chickens. I dont mix them though the chickens are in a large electric fenced area and the geese have the rest of the garden.

The geese need loads of grass (4 geese eat as much grass as 1 sheep)

Geese are not hard to look after they eat grass, layers pellets corn and sometimes your plants, I seriously wouldn't recomend mixing them in a run with the chickens though.

Go get some ;) They keep foxes away and will patrol the garden.

Our breeder has 3 and they roam around between the chicken pens and spend time with their bali crested runner ducks :)

Go on, someone tell me how impossible they are to keep and how they'll eat my chickens....before I get in the car and drive to Norfolk!

I have been away from the forum for a while and have only just spotted this topic. I have a goose and a gander. I love them to bits even though the gander gets very hissy and pecky. You just have to be firm! They are incredibly easy to care for - really easy to move around. They mainly eat grass, and lots of it, but you can top them up with veggies, bread, corn, layers pellets etc. They do not like chickens but are fine with ducks. You probably made your decision ages ago, but I do hope you did get them. They are great companions, but ganders can be a bit grumpy.

I didn't in the end, because I was worried about when I'd be able to get a shed put up for them to sleep in. We might consider it at some point (honestly, pointlessly large garden) but until my brother turns up to help me put another shed up, they'd be easy prey for our enormous foxes.

Don't worry Lesley, they're sold out of the adults now!
