Heard a crowing coming from Bantam Cottage this is the second time Ive been sold a Cock! Not happy as Ive grown attached to my Lil'uns. Not sure who it is yet, need to find a way to get it to crow again they all look like Hens though. I may put some pics up in a bit and see if anyone can help ... Gutted

I have a hen who crows - she lays eggs so not a cockerel. She does it from time to time to show she is top hen I think. So all may not yet be lost - fingers crossed for you

She only crows ( a strangulated crow) when she thinks she's lost Phillip our cockerel. That's not often. It's usually the other way round ( his eyesight is not the best!)

For me it's too early to tell from those pics without a comparison from more of the same breed of birds at exactly the same age.

 

Obviously cockerels develop their combs and wattles much quicker than hens and that is an easy way to tell before they start crowing.

 

Some birds can be sexed according to their feathers, but this trait has to be bred into them.

Yeah, I must admit, I would be very surprised if one of them was a Boy.. Definatley the odd crow coming from them though

They look like girls to me. Hens can crow - well their strangled version of it anyway!

Think they're about 16 - 18 weeks
